Does the perfect personal website exist?

I was 11 when my brother and I stopped sharing a bedroom.

When we got our rooms, our parents embraced our creativity and let us paint our rooms however we wanted.

I painted alternating white and baby blue stripes on two of my walls.

I took a paintbrush fully dipped in baby blue for the other two walls and whipped it at the wall like an anxious pitcher making his first start in the big leagues.

I personalized everything. Maybe you're the same, Reader?

Now, as an adult, I still love to personalize everything. That’s why this newsletter is called Make It Yours.

My restored ‘83 Schwinn. My travel bag. My website.

Now, the creativity I had painting my bedroom as an 11-year-old is now my personal website.

It's what drives my personal and professional curiosities.

It's the constant in my life, always changing.

I landed my very first job because I had my own site.

It's the primary source I can point to that has driven well over $1 million in revenue and friendships from freelancing, side projects, writing, products, and services.

Sure, it's changed over the years, but it's mine.

And I want to show you how to create an essential site that won’t stay silent.

It doesn't have to be perfect.

The perfect personal website doesn't exist.

And that can be frustrating.

But that’s the great thing about it. It can be deployed to your advantage based on your own goals.

Whether you want to build personal serendipity because you feel intellectually isolated, change your career because you're stuck, or run a solo business by selling products and services.

I've done all of these, and each has different approaches.

But you don't want a website because you want to stay the same.

Our sites reflect an attitude that we want something to change in our lives.

2025 is the year you can create your new site and change the direction you're headed.

I'll announce a new blueprint for your personal website next year.

More details coming soon.

p.s. What's blocking you from getting your personal website up and running?

Recently, a friend showed me his personal site to create serendipity. His offer is a free chat with parents who don't have enough time to read or write. He balances a full-time role at Stripe as a parent while writing a newsletter, so he knows a few things about this. It's a great idea when you're starting out, and I made some suggestions to clean up the call-to-action and clarify the ask. But then it got me thinking, Reader: what's a simple resource you could create to let people into your...

Yesterday's personal website email had more responses than I've ever had before. Thanks for replying. This is my take on the difference between the three paths and where to start. (play at 1.2-1.5x speed) If you didn't respond Reader, I'd love to hear what you want from your personal website. Personal Serendipity: You feel intellectually isolated and desire to expand your social circle, increasing luck and serendipity in your life. Professional Pivot: You're bored with your current career,...

Yesterday at 11:05 am I hopped on a 15-minute call with a reader who came across an article I wrote online. This person was forwarded my personal website article and then booked a time to chat from my site. For some of you, this flow isn't unique. Yet, this serendipity engine feels like magic to me. This past week, three strangers have reached out this way. In the past year, 87,700 people have visited my personal site, and I have had hundreds of calls from people worldwide with little effort....
